Siddur in silver-decorated binding, produced by silversmith Isaac Beauclair (Baucair). Kassel, Germany, ca. 1705.
Print on paper; wood and leather; silver, cast, cut and repoussé (clasps marked with hallmark of Kassel, the letter K; and the maker's mark, the letters IB in a frame).
Brown leather binding decorated identically on both sides, with four leaf-like corner illustrations and two identical decorations attached to clasps and pins. A large, blank medallion is fixed in the center of both sides, surrounded by a repoussé frame.
The book: Year-round prayers with Yiddish commentary. Amsterdam: Moshe son of Avraham Mendes Coutinho, 1705.
Siddur for women. Includes divisional title pages for Tehillim and techinot. On title page, woodcuts depicting the three mitzvot of challah, niddah and candle-lighting.
[3], 315, [1], 92 leaves, 20.2 cm. Overall good condition. Stains and some wear. Some leaves loose.
Binding: 14.5X21 cm. Fair-good condition. Wear to leather coating and old repairs to leather pieces. Wooden boards somewhat crooked. Back binding partially detached and front binding loose.

Leather-coated wood binding (apparently from 18th century), with eight silver corner decorations and large silver clasps (silver marked with "R").
Divisional title page for Bamidbar and Devarim, and for haftarot (naming the printer, Shlomo Proops, and dated 1712).
First 12 leaves lacking; replaced by first 11 leaves of another Torah edition: Amsterdam: Immanuel Athias, 1700-1701 ([2], 2-10; including both title pages). At beginning of present book, five additional handwritten leaves with Targum Onkelos to first leaves, evidently because Athias' edition lacks the Targum.

Handwritten inscriptions on first title pages, front endpaper and verso, ownership inscriptions and death inscriptions dated 1733, 1752 and 1808.

Lacking first 12 leaves (replaced by [2], 2-10 leaves from 1700-1701 edition), and lacking leaves 421 and 432 (with handwritten replacements, two leaves each). High holiday siddur in elaborate silver binding, produced by the silversmith Johann Conrad Weiss. Nuremberg, Germany, [ca. 1726].
Print on paper; wood and leather; silver, repoussé, pierced and engraved (marked on clasps and binding with Nuremberg hallmark – the letter N – and maker's mark, the initials ICW).
Fine elaborate silver binding, pierced and decorated identically on both sides, with vegetal patterns surrounding a prominent octagonal medallion (blank); a matching medallion also appears in the center of the spine. A pair of matching buckles, decorated with flowers enclosing interlocking spherical clasps at the center.
The silversmith Johann Conrad Weiss (1670-1758) – licensed 1699 – was active in Nuremberg in the first half of the 18th century, fashioning several Judaica objects, including spice-boxes, kiddush cups, a Chanukah lamp, and a Torah shield, finials and pointer. Some of his creations are preserved in the Israel Museum and Jewish Museum of New York collections.
Book: High holiday siddur according to the Sephardic rite. Amsterdam: Naftali Hertz son of Alexander Ziskind Levi of Emden, [1726].
220 leaves (second part only). 17.5 cm. Good condition. Printed on high-quality paper, with wide margins and gilt edges. Original wooden binding, coated with red leather.

Machzor for the High Holidays in an elegant binding. Amsterdam, [first half of the 18th century].
Silver, cast and engraved (marked with maker’s marks, apparently IC or IG); leather and wood; print on paper.
Machzor in original wooden binding, covered in black-dyed leather and embossed with geometric and vegetal patterns. Large silver ornaments affixed with rivets to both side of the cover, featuring a vegetal design, and four corner ornaments in the form of angels. Original, matching silver clasp with engraved initials on its interior.
The book: Sephardic-rite machzor for the High Holidays, with Selichot for the nights of Ashmorot. Amsterdam: Raphael Hezekiah Athias, [1728]. Includes engraved frontispiece depicting the Israelites observing the priests performing the Temple service on Yom Kippur.

Bound in original wooden binding, covered in contemporary leather, and encased in a luxurious silver binding. Both sides of the silver cover and spine are pierced and decorated with matching, symmetrical floral patterns and rich vegetal designs. Pair of matching silver clasps.
The book: Five Books of the Torah and the Five Scrolls with Targum Onkelos (only for the Pentateuch), Rashi commentary, and the Haftarah portions. Amsterdam: Shlomo ben Yosef Proops, [1734].
Chumash: 2-392, [2] leaves (title page lacking); 53 leaves of Haftarot (last three leaves lacking). 12.2 cm. Separate title page for the Haftarot. Fair condition. Tears and wear to first and last leaves. Losses to final leaves.

Medallion at center of front cover, with relief scene of a scribe seated at his desk; medallion at center of back cover with relief of a woman carrying a jug. Matching silver clasp with astrological sign of Libra.
The book: Year-round siddur following Ashkenazi rite, with Torah portions, Shir HaYichud, Yotzerot and Selichot, Tehillim, Hoshanot, Ma'aravot and Techinot, in Hebrew and Yiddish. Amsterdam: Herz Levi Rofe and his son-in-law Kosman, [1752].

Miniature machzor according to the Eastern Ashkenazic rite. Elaborate silver binding, with a family coat of arms engraved on its front – a gate with a pediment with a palm of the hand in the center; on the verso, the initials "DP" are engraved. Original clasp.
326 leaves (pp. 213b-292a: Torah readings, pp. 292-321a: Shabbat songs, Counting of the Omer), 8 cm. Overall good condition. Some wear. Wear and defects to margins of last leaves. Last leaf detached. Inscription in Italian script to front endpaper, on passing of Simchah daughter of Hillel HaKohen and Yocheved Segre on March 4, 1861. Original leather-coated cardboard binding. Back binding worn and torn.

Women’s siddur in decorated silver binding. [Probably Germany, 19th century].

Both sides of the binding identically decorated with vegetal patterns, at their center appear a pair of rampant lions supporting a medallion topped with a crown. Long carrying chain. A pair of cast clasps, one decorated with the figure of Aaron, the other with the figure of Moses holding the Tablets of the Law.
The book: Order of Prayers for the Entire Year with Yiddish commentary. Amsterdam: Moshe ben Abraham Mendes Coutinho, 1705. With separate title pages for Tehillim and Order of Supplications. Machzor in silver-decorated binding. Venice, ca. 1750.
Print on paper; cardboard and leather; silver, cast, pierced and engraved (unmarked); gilt.
Brown leather binding decorated identically on both sides, with a large, impressive guilloche comprising leaf and flower decorations. At top of front binding, another decoration shaped as a pair of palms spread out for the priestly blessing. Around the edges is a thin belt designed as a chain of flowers (on back binding, these decorations only appear near the four corners). Large clasp, decorated with an identical pattern. All decorations pierced and gilt, and nailed onto the binding.
The book: Year-round machzor according to the Italian rite (Part I only). Venice: Bragadin, 1750.
At beginning of book, half-title by Francesco Griselini (1717-1787), with his print signature, depicting the Passover meal and bearing the Hebrew caption "Festivals".
224 leaves; 16 leaves (Tefillat Yesharim, with divisional title page), 18.5 cm. Overall good condition. Some stains. Ownership inscription on title page: "Michael Modena".
Binding: 13.5X19 cm. Overall good condition. Some defects and wear, mainly to spine. One flower decoration on back endpaper loose.
