Machzor for the High Holidays in an elegant binding. Amsterdam, [first half of the 18th century].
Silver, cast and engraved (marked with maker’s marks, apparently IC or IG); leather and wood; print on paper.
Machzor in original wooden binding, covered in black-dyed leather and embossed with geometric and vegetal patterns. Large silver ornaments affixed with rivets to both side of the cover, featuring a vegetal design, and four corner ornaments in the form of angels. Original, matching silver clasp with engraved initials on its interior.
The book: Sephardic-rite machzor for the High Holidays, with Selichot for the nights of Ashmorot. Amsterdam: Raphael Hezekiah Athias, [1728]. Includes engraved frontispiece depicting the Israelites observing the priests performing the Temple service on Yom Kippur.

Binding: height: 18 cm. Width: 11.5 cm, spine width: 6 cm. Good condition. Minor wear and tears to spine. Three of the corner ornaments slightly loose.
