Jerusalem Rundblick vom Turme der Erlöserkirche, by Bruno Hentschel. Leipzig: Bruno Hentschel, 1898. Small-format edition.
Wide panorama by the Austrian photographer Bruno Hentschel, depicting Jerusalem as seen from the tower of the Church of the Redeemer in the Old City, shortly after its inauguration by Kaiser Wilhelm II.
The panorama comprises eight numbered photographs, with corresponding numerals referring to important sites in the city, listed in the legend bound with the panorama. The photographs are mounted on card album leaves, bound accordion-style in a decorated binding.
Bruno Hentschel, born in Salzburg, worked as a photographer and publisher in Leipzig. In the late 1890s he founded the Kunst-Verlag Bruno Hentschel, specializing in photographs, photo albums, and slides. He later established a studio in Jerusalem, which served as a base for photographic expeditions throughout the Levant, North Africa, and Southern Europe. In 1898 he was among the photographers accompanying Kaiser Wilhelm II on his visit to Palestine, and in 1900 he published an album documenting the journey.

Jerusalem: Die heilige Stadt und Umgebung – Rundschau vom Turm der Dormitio [Jerusalem: The Holy City and Its Surroundings – View from the Tower of the Dormition]. Mönchengladbach: B. Kühlen's Verlag, [ca. 1910].
Commemorative volume, distributed to participants in the inauguration ceremony of the Dormition Abbey (Mariae Heimgang) on Mount Zion, held on April 10, 1910.
The volume includes a long collotype print, folded in eight sections, featuring a panoramic view of Jerusalem taken from the Dormition tower, with a detailed legend identifying key landmarks throughout the city.
Bound in an attractive gilt-stamped cover (in German and Latin), featuring a collotype print of the church mounted on the front board. A printed presentation leaf commemorating the church's dedication is affixed to the front pastedown.
Accompanied by a single leaf of German text, describing the background to the abbey’s construction, with quotations from the Scripture and from speeches by Emperor Wilhelm II, whose visit to the Holy Land and close ties with the Ottoman Sultan paved the way for the building’s construction.

Large collection of some seventy color photochrom prints, depicting landscapes, streets, and inhabitants of Jerusalem. [Ca. mid-late 19th century].
The collection includes, among others: views of Jerusalem from various angles, the Temple Mount, streets and alleys of the city, Via Dolorosa, Jaffa Gate, Damascus Gate, Golden Gate, men and women of the city at their work, Jews in Sabbath attire, as well as sites in the vicinity of Jerusalem, including Rachel’s Tomb and Nabi Samuel.
The photochrom prints are numbered, inscribed with the initials of the publisher P.Z. [Photochrom Zürich], and titled. Some bear an ink stamp on verso: "Photochrom". Accompanied by two original family photographs, mounted on cardboard [ca. mid-late 19th century].
Approx. 70 color photochrom prints, some in multiple copies. Average size: 22.5X16.5 cm. Overall good condition. Minor wear, blemishes and stains.

Fifteen studio portraits produced in early photography studios in Jerusalem. Most are cabinet card photographs. Late 19th – early 20th centuries.
Orientalist-style portraits, showing the sitters in Middle Eastern attire, adorned with jewelry and weaponry, and set against Near Eastern-themed backdrops.
Mounted on studio card mounts, printed with the photographers’ names and logos: Khalil Raad (9 photographs), Garabed Krikorian (3 photographs), Alexandre Gherardi, and two postcard-format photographs by Joseph (Johann) Tumayan, with his photographer’s stamp on verso. Several cards bear the German imperial emblem (likely marking the 1898 visit of Kaiser Wilhelm II to the Holy Land).
Various sizes, approx. 6.5×9.5 to 10.5×14.5 cm. Overall good to good-fair condition. Stains, scratches, and minor defects to some photographs. One photograph with surface abrasion to center (not affecting sitter’s figure). Slightly oversized mounts, with wear and blemishes.

Mittelmeer-Fahrt der ‘Augusta Victoria, six souvenir photographs of Jerusalem. Hamburg: Strumper & Co., 1891.
Official souvenir photographs, mounted onto thick paper plates and titled in print (German), from the 1891 Mediterranean voyage of the luxury ocean liner "Augusta Victoria, " regarded as the world’s first real cruise ship journey.
The present photographs present scenes of Jerusalem, where cruise passengers arrived after docking at the Port of Jaffa: The Temple Mount as seen from the Mount of Olives; the Temple Mount plaza; Church of Mary Magdalene; overlook of Jerusalem from the north and south; view of the Temple Mount as seen from Mount Zion.
Six photographs, approx. 14.5X21 cm (plates: 31.5X23.5 cm). Good condition. Minor stains and blemishes to plates (photos themselves clean).

Account of a journey to Palestine and Syria by French writer and painter Charles Lallemand, illustrated with 22 plates and dozens of in-text photogravures, depicting important sites in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Damascus, and more.
The photographs used for preparing the photogravures were taken by the French photographer and native of Algeria Jules Gervais-Courtellemont (1863-1931), one of the pioneers of color photography and among the foremost photographers of the Levant in the late 19th century.
Published as part of the series "Collection Courtellemont: artistique et pittoresque", dedicated to the works of Gervais-Courtellemont.

The Holy Land 1910-1921, Photogravures by S. Narinsky. Portfolio comprising 70 photogravure prints of photographs by Shlomo Narinsky, with an introduction by Tim Gidal. [Israel, ca. 1980]. English.
The portfolio contains 70 photogravures after photographs by Narinsky, mounted on card, from a series of 118 photographs first published in an album of the same title in 1921 by the Jamal brothers.
The prints include: portrait of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda; portrait of Sarah Aaronsohn; portraits of Jews and Arabs; Jerusalem and the Holy Sites; cities, important sites and landscapes across the Land of Israel, and more.
Copy no. 68 of a limited edition of 220 copies.
Shlomo Narinsky (1885-1960), born in Russia, studied photography in Berlin. In 1905 he immigrated to Palestine and settled in Jerusalem, where he opened a photography studio. During World War I he fled to Egypt, later returning to the country; eventually he settled in France. In 1940 he and his wife were arrested and interned in concentration camps until 1944, when they were released in exchange for a German prisoner and returned to Palestine. He passed away in 1960.
