German edition and a German-French (smaller format) edition of the album Bilder aus dem Heiligen Lande, depicting biblical landscapes and sites in Palestine and its surroundings, after drawings by German painter Johann Martin Bernatz (1802-1878). Accompanied by text by German scholar Gotthilf Heinrich von Schubert (1780-1860).
Each edition comprises some forty lithographic plates, depicting the cities of Jerusalem, Hebron, Tiberias, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Joseph's Tomb in Shechem, Mount Carmel, Mount Tabor, Damascus, and others; also including a large panorama of Sinai (folding plate, numbered 6-8 / 9-10 in the plate list).
German edition: [43] pages + [39] plates. Approx. 24X38 cm. German-French edition: [44] pages + [38] plates. Approx. 17.5X27.5 cm. Condition varies. Stains, creases and wear. Contemporary half-leather bindings, somewhat worn. German edition with tears and defects to text leaves and plates; folding panorama torn and detached.

Twenty-four chapters presenting sites and landscapes of the Holy Land: orange groves in Jaffa, Jaffa Gate, the Western Wall, Rachel's Tomb, the Valley of Jehoshaphat, the Mount of Olives, the Jordan River, and others. Each chapter accompanied by a photogravure plate after a photograph by Cecil V. Shadbolt. The gilt-embossed binding depicts two figures walking along a path amidst lush vegetation in Jaffa. On the flyleaf: certificate awarding the book to an outstanding pupil of a religious school in Aberystwyth, Wales, 1903.

The collection comprises various lithographs from the book Voyage dans le Levant en 1817 et 1818 by Baron de Forbin (Paris, 1819), depicting landscapes and sites throughout Jerusalem: the city gates, the Jewish Quarter, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Tomb of the Kings, and more. Signed and titled in the plate (French).
One hand-colored lithograph.

Large-format volume (elephant folio) of lithographic views of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, compiled from two incomplete albums:
• Souvenirs de Jérusalem, color lithographs by French Vice-Admiral François-Edmond Pâris. Paris: Mme Ve Bouchard-Huzard, 1862. French.
[3] leaves, [13] plates (of 14; apparently lacking the plate depicting the road from Jaffa to Jerusalem).
• Thirty-three lithographs from Voyage dans le Levant en 1817 et 1818, by Baron Auguste de Forbin (first published: Paris: L'Imprimerie Royale, 1819, in a limited edition).
The present volume includes three lithographs after drawings by Forbin himself – View of Jerusalem from the Valley of Jehoshaphat, View of the Dome of the Rock, and a schematic plan with detailed legend of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – together with 30 lithographs after various artists, executed by Godefroy Engelmann (1788-1839): gates of Jerusalem, the Dome of the Rock, churches and mosques, as well as other sites in Jerusalem and throughout the Holy Land – the Jordan River, Jaffa, Gaza, and more.
Altogether 46 lithographs bound together. 62.5 cm. Overall fair-good condition. Stains. Minor blemishes.

High-quality hand-colored lithograph by the French painter Isidore Laurent Deroy (1797-1886), depicting a panoramic view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.
Below the image appear the names of the principal sites – the Valley of Jehoshaphat, the Dome of the Rock, Damascus Gate and others – together with the imprint, but without the year of publication (the lithograph was first published in February 1861).
47.5X31.5 cm. Good condition. Stains and minor creases. Repaired tear to upper edge, not affecting image. Traces of tape to verso.
