Hanukkah lamp. Warsaw, Poland, 1875.
Silver, turned, repoussé, and stamped (marked with maker’s mark, "M. Sztern", including the (faded) logo of the workshop; with mark of silver inspector Josef Sosnkowski, along with the year, 1875; and with quality marks).
Large Hanukkah lamp featuring typical Polish design characteristics; adorned with vegetal patterns, with tendrils, grape clusters, and oak branches with acorns. Surmounting the back plate is a pair of deer bucks flanking and nuzzling, on either side, a large crown in relief. At the center of the back plate is a pair of rampant lions flanking and grasping, on either side, a seven-branched menorah. Along the left and right edges of the back plate is a pair of architectonic columns. Removable servant light and oil pitcher.
Height: 29 cm. Width: 24 cm. Depth: 8 cm. Good condition. Slight warping.
