Hanukkah lamp. Warsaw, Poland, 1875.
Silver, turned and stamped (marked with maker’s mark, "Pogorzelski", including the (faded) logo of the workshop; with mark of silver inspector Josef Sosnkowski, along with the year, 1875; and with quality marks).
Large Hanukkah lamp featuring typical Polish design characteristics; adorned with vegetal patterns, with tendrils and grape clusters. Four additional ornaments are screwed onto the lamp on either side, between the back plate and row of oil fonts (or candle sockets): a pair of trees, along with two pairs of birds – one pair perched in each treetop; and a pair of rampant lions.
Removable servant light and oil pitcher. An additional socket for insertion of the servant light or oil pitcher is attached to the top of the back plate. Suspension hook.
Height: 29 cm. Width: 25 cm. Depth: 7.5 cm. Overall good condition. Some of the screw attachments are loose.
