Letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson. Brooklyn, New York, 14th Shevat 1955.
Typewritten on the Rebbe's official stationery, with his signature – "M.Schneerson", with his handwritten corrections.
Addressed to R. Yitzchak Levi, rabbi of the Shomrei HaBrit community in Reading, Pennsylvania. The Rebbe encourages him to build a mikveh for the women of his community, and stresses the importance of doing so: "Who knows if this is why you were appointed to the office of being a rabbi in the Jewish people?", in line with the saying of the Baal Shem Tov that the soul's descent to the world would be worthwhile just to do one favor to one Jew. He asks for updates on his progress, and on his actions "in his community, in our vineyard, namely the vineyard of Chabad".
[1] leaf, official stationery (thin). 28 cm. Good condition. Folding marks. Holes to margins. Paper sticker at top of page.
This letter is published in the Lubavitcher Rebbe's Igrot Kodesh (Part X, letter 3271).
