Letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson. Brooklyn, New York, 1st Elul 1954.
Typewritten on the Rebbe's official stationery, with his signature – "M.Schneerson".
Addressed to R. Yitzchak Levi, upon his appointment as rabbi and local authority of the Shomrei HaBrit community in Reading, Pennsylvania. The Rebbe blesses him to live up to their community's name ("observers of the covenant"). He mentions the Alter Rebbe's interpretation of the local authority's title of "Mara DeAtra", in accordance with its literal meaning "master of the place", in that the rabbi is the master of his community's internal affairs. He blesses him with strength in spreading Judaism in general and in everyday life, and in that merit to influence him and his entire family with all they need, physically and spiritually.
The Rebbe encourages him to set a fixed study regimen for Torah and Chassidic teachings, concluding with a Ketivah VaChatimah blessing for the new year.
