Silver cup. Dedicatory inscription to the Beth El Synagogue of Craiova, Romania, dated 5641 [1881].
Silver, turned, repoussé, and engraved (unmarked).
Tall cylindrical cup with broad rim. Supported on a stout leg with a broad, dome-shaped base. A large cartouche is engraved in the middle of the cup, adorned in vegetal patterns, and the following dedicatory inscription is engraved at the center of the cartouche: "Leah bat Miriam / wife of R. Moshe Aizik / Donated this cup / to the Beth El Synagogue / Craiova / Year 5641…"

Height: 15 cm. Diameter at base: 8 cm. Fair-good condition. Significant warping. Soldering repairs to attachment of leg. Ornaments somewhat faded. Some type of filling present inside base (perhaps inserted as a weight), which rustles when cup is shaken.
