Siddur in decorated binding. Vienna (Austria-Hungary) and Italy, 19th century.
Low-grade silver, repoussé; white metal, cast; print on paper.
Siddur, in a leather binding, with nearly identical decorations on both sides. With vegetal-patterned frame, and asymmetrical cartouche at center, surmounted by large, ornate crown. The initials "I.V.V" appear in relief on the cartouche on the back binding.
Book: Year-round siddur, in the Polish, Bohemian, Moravian and Hungarian rite. Vienna: Anton Schmidt, [1811]. 226 leaves. 8.5 cm. Overall good condition. Gilt book block edges. Wear and stains to margins of some leaves. Handwritten notations by several different writers on front flyleaf.
Height of binding: 8.5 cm. Width: 6 cm. Thickness: 2.5 cm. Good condition. Minor fractures and warping. Buckles not silver.
