Pair of Torah Finials. Pforzheim, Germany, [ca. 1920s].
Silver, turned (marked with German quality marks – crescent moon, crown, and "835" – and with maker’s mark, the monogram "LW" = Lutz & Weiss, Pforzheim).
Torah finials exhibiting Modernist design, with hints of Art Deco. The body of each finial bears a dome-shaped cap with openings, supported by five columns. At the base of each body is a flower-shaped ornament with a dome surmounted by a small sphere at center. Five large gilt bells, producing a delicate ring, are suspended from each finial.
Height: 26 cm. Maximal width: 9 cm. Overall good condition. Slight warping. One bell not original.
