Esther Scroll housed in a silver case. [Ottoman Empire, early 20th century].
Silver, cast, turned and engraved (unmarked); ink on parchment.
HaMelekh Esther Scroll (most columns opening with the word “HaMelekh”), inscribed on five parchment sheets sewn one to the other, 32 columns of text, 14 lines per column. Tagin on designated letters.
Housed in a cylindrical silver case, adorned with vegetal motifs; domed cover with vegetal ornament at top. Rectangular silver pull bar with ring. Curved handle for rolling.
Height of parchment: 7.5 cm. Overall good condition. Minor staining; some detached stitches between sheets and at pull bar. Height of case (including handle): 23.5 cm. Good condition.
