Letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson. Brooklyn, New York, 17th Iyar 1955.
Typewritten on the Rebbe's official stationery, with his signature – "M.Schneerson", with his handwritten corrections.
Addressed to R. Yitzchak Levi, rabbi of the Shomrei HaBrit community in Reading, Pennsylvania. The letter begins with a marriage proposal for his mother, and blesses her with harmony, physically and spiritually. The Rebbe goes on to bless his family members with a speedy recovery, and says they will be mentioned at the gravesite of his father-in-law the Rayatz.
The Rebbe goes on to encourage him in his spiritual affairs: "…Physicality and spirituality go together. For creation is from simple unity, therefore unity reigns throughout all of creation. But in order that there be free will, two paths are given, and man should choose life and thus reveal the unity in everything… Therefore, when informing of one's state in physicality, one should also always inform of one's state in spirituality…".
The Rebbe concludes his letter with a blessing to report back good news, also mentioning the mikveh discussed in an earlier correspondence.
