A dozen fountain pens made by "Katab". Palestine, [1940s].
Fountain pens with a hooded nib. This model of "Katab" pens appeared shortly after the Parker 51 with the hooded nib which was first produced in 1941. Ten of the pens still have the price label – 990 Pruta.
The "Katab" factory for pens was founded in Ramat Gan in 1936 by the brothers Walter and Eric Kornfeld from Austria, and operated until 1954. The factory manufactured fountain pens of various degrees of elegance for Jewish and Arab customers in Palestine.
Pens 12.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Some of the pens cannot be opened.
