Decorated paper ketubah, for the wedding of Chaim son of Michael and Miriam daughter of Aharon. Hamadan, Iran, 14th Av 5633 [August 7, 1873].
Ink, paint and manual printing on paper.
Written on a rectangular paper sheet, with decorations printed with woodblock, in a repeating pattern alternating between flowers and birds, painted in watercolor. The ketubah text is written on the bottom half, in Sephardic semi-cursive script, with the signature of the witnesses Shalom son of Refael Eliyahu, Yekutiel son of Aharon and Chaim son of Eliyahu Babajan below. Three blank rectangular frames at top half.
35.5X44 cm. Fair-good condition. Many folding marks, creases and stains, affecting text and decorations, professionally restored. Mounted on acid-free paper.
