Two sketches by Ze'ev Raban for the Freemasons:
1. "Gold Certificate", sketch for a certificate for a donation towards the construction of "Mizpah" lodge of the Free Masons in Jerusalem, designed by Ze'ev Raban, [1940s]. Ink and watercolor on paper and on vellum. Ink-stamped "Ze'ev Raban, studio for industrial art (formerly Gur-Arieh and Raban), Bezalel Yerushalem" (Hebrew).
21.5X30.5 cm, framed in a 33X42 cm frame. Good condition. Unexamined out of frame.
2. Round sketch depicting a fighter, in one hand holding a shield with the Freemasons emblem and in his other hand a spear with a flag and the letters "א. ב.". on it. The fighter stands on a stone gate with a fire-breathing dragon at his feet; the sea is seen in the background with a rising sun. Pencil, golden ink and watercolor on paper. Ink-stamped "Ze'ev Raban, studio for industrial art (formerly Gur-Arieh and Raban), Bezalel Yerushalem" (Hebrew).
Leaf: approx. 20X20.5 cm. Good condition. Some stains. Creases. Lacking a small piece, not affecting sketch. Matted.
Enclosed: Emblem of "Mizpah" Lodge of the Freemasons in Jerusalem, designed by Ze'ev Raban. Cut out of a printed advertisement of the lodge. Ink stamped on the reverse "Ze'ev Raban, studio for industrial art (formerly Gur-Arieh and Raban), Bezalel Yerushalem" (Hebrew).
