Two letters sent from Jerusalem to the Amsterdam-based organization Pekidim and Amarkalim (Officers and Treasurers), with requests for donations. Jerusalem 1890, 1894.
1. Letter from the Hessed V'Emet Charitable Society of Moroccan Jews. Jerusalem, 1890.
In this letter, addressed to Moses de Lima, deputy to the head of Pekidim and Amarkalim, Reuven Buenos submits a request on behalf of the Hessed V'Emet Charitable Society for a donation toward fulfilling, in time for the Passover holiday, the mitzvah of "clothing the naked" for the benefit of orphans and poverty-stricken children. Stamped with the inked stamp of the Society. [1] f., 23 cm. Good condition. Few stains.
2. Letter from Yitzhak Tajer and Aharon Sha'altiel. Jerusalem, 1894.
In this letter, addressed to the people of the Pekidim and Amarkalim in Amsterdam, the two petitioners mention that their income is meager, and request financial support to help sustain them in their function as assistants, night and day, to Rabbi Ya'akov Shaul Elyashar. [1] f., 29 cm. Good-fair condition. Few stains. Widthwise fold line, mostly torn.
