Spicebox. [Eastern Europe, Galicia (?), ca. mid-19th century].
Silver, cast, repoussé, pierced and engraved (marked with fineness mark “12”); parcel-gilt.
Goblet-shaped spice container, set on a tall stem with a round base. The pierced body and removable cover are decorated with vegetal motifs. The interior of the container is lined with a gilt silver sheet. The top of the cover is surmounted by a spherical ornament and a flagpole with a flag.
Height: 15.5 cm. Base diameter: 5 cm. Overall good condition. Minor blemishes, bends, and old soldering repairs.
