Six black-and-white photographs by Zoltan Kluger. Palestine, [1939 (one may be earlier)].
The photographs depict: • An airplane taking off in front of a formation of trainees in the flight school in Lod. • Trainees in the first Jewish pilots’ course of the Aviron company’s flight school in Afikim, putting an aircraft with folding wings into storage. • A festive formation of members of the Scouts and other youth movements at the graduation ceremony of the first course for Jewish pilots in Lod (on the back is a censor’s stamp forbidding publication). • Trainees in a mechanics class at the flight school of the Palestine Flying Service in Lod. • An instructor teaching a woman trainee in a gliding course on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea as part of the flight school of the Flying Camel (the Palestine flight club). • An instructor teaching trainees in a gliding course on a glider in the Jordan Valley.
The photographs are stamped on the back: "The Orient press photo Co. (Photo Z. Kluger)." Some are captioned in handwriting on the back. Two photographs are numbered in the upper margins in handwriting. One photograph is mounted on a cardboard plate.
Size and condition vary. Overall good condition. Some blemishes, mostly minor.
