Amulet case. [Italy, probably Venice, 18th century].
Silver, cast, repoussé and engraved (unmarked); gilt.
Two-sided amulet case, decorated with rocailles and vegetal patterns in rococo style. Upper edge stylized as a canopy, surmounted by a clover pendant. Bottom edge stylized as a cluster of grapes, signifying fertility and bounty. Gilt heart-shaped cartouche on both sides, with Holy Name in center. Additional appliqués in the shape of a priestly turban and censer on one side, and Tablets of the Law (engraved with the Ten Commandments) and a seven-branched menorah on the other.
Height: 11.5 cm. Width: 8.5 cm. Depth: approx. 2 cm. Weight: 101 g. Overall good condition. Slight warping, cracks and minor fractures.
