Shulchan Aruch, with Likutei Gur Aryeh HaLevi, four parts. Mantua: Yitzchak Yare and Yaakov Chaver Tov, [1721-1723]. Two-volume set.
This edition was proofread by the Italian rabbis R. Avraham Yedidiah son of R. Shimshon Basilea, R. Refael Chaim d'Italia the physician and R. Aviad Sar Shalom Basilea (brother of the first) who also added notes to the book.
Variant. In Orach Chaim section appears the rare title page with fictional depictions of Rashi, Rambam, Maharil, Maharik, Rama and R. Gur Aryeh. As the story is told, due to opposition to illustrating these prominent figures, the rabbis of Mantua ordered the title page to be replaced by one without illustrations. The present copy has the original title page.
Various inscriptions to front and back boards of first volume, including inscription of "Moshe Foa" of Sabbioneta, and an Italian inscription dated 1851.

Two volumes. Volume I (Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah): [3], 2-146 leaves; [1], 148-288 leaves. Volume II (Even HaEzer and Choshen Mishpat): 88 leaves; [1], 90-268, [1] leaves. 24.5-25 cm. Overall good-fair condition. Stains, including dampstains. Traces of former dampness, with mold stains to last leaves of second volume. Worming, affecting text. Some tears, including marginal open tear to title page of first volume, not affecting title frame. Several gatherings loose in first volume. Margins of several leaves repaired with paper. First volume in original leather binding (with minor defects and worming), second volume in new binding.
