Zichron Yosef, responsa and homilies by R. Yosef of Steinhardt, Rabbi of Fürth. Fürth: Itzek son of Leib Buchbinder, [1773]. First edition.

R. Yosef Steinhardt (before 1700-1776), a leading rabbi of his generation who corresponded with R. Yehonatan Eibeshitz and R. Shaul Rabbi of Amsterdam. A close disciple of the Shav Yaakov of Frankfurt, he served as Rabbi of various cities in Germany and Alsace, and from 1763 as Rabbi and yeshiva dean of Fürth. His wife Kreindel was noted for her erudition, and she is quoted in this book by her husband.
The author's preface contains sharp criticism of the nascent Chassidic movement.
Distinguished copy, belonging to the Fränkel family of Leszno, Lutomiersk, Kalisz and Łask.
On endpaper, ownership inscription (blurred) of "Yehudah HaLevi of Lissa (Leszno), here in Lutomiersk". Additional signatures on front and back endpaper of his grandsons: "Yehudah Yudel HaLevi"; signatures of "Shmuel HaLevi Fränkel of Kalisz", and "Shmuel Menachem…".
