Printed leaf – document of sale of a plot in the Sambosky cemetery, Mt. Zion. [Jerusalem: printer not indicated], Tishrei 1881.

In center of title, illustration of buildings with caption: "The city of Zion and the graves of the kings of the house of David".
Document from the rabbis and officials of Jerusalem kollels, filled in by hand (faded), on sale of a plot in the Sambosky cemetery to "Avraham son of Eliyahu A[---?]", for "three rubles", with four stamps of rabbis and officials of the Sephardic kollels in the city: R. Refael Meir Panigel (Rav Marpe), R. Moshe Benveniste, R. Yaakov Shaul Elyashar and R. Yosef Yehoshua Cario. Handwritten confirmation with Sephardic calligraphic signature.
Many of the dead in Jerusalem were buried in the Sambosky cemetery on the southeastern slope of Mt. Zion. Most of those buried in the cemetery were those too poor to afford a plot on the Mount of Olives, and were paid for by public institutions. The present document is thus particularly rare.

[1] leaf. 19.5X20 cm. Fair condition. Stains. Faded ink (some handwritten words erased). Marginal open tears, and tears to length and breadth of leaf, slightly affecting text. Repaired and mounted on paper.

Not documented in Sh. Halevy, not in the NLI catalog, and bibliographically unknown.
