Pair of Torah Finials. [Yemen, late 19th or early 20th century].
Silver sheet, repoussé and engraved.
Torah finials, slim and tall, bearing distinctive Yemenite features, but made of silver (whereas the majority of finials of this type are made of brass). With four distinctive, bulging ornaments: two of them conical, toward the top, and between them a small, spherical ornament, in addition to a large spherical ornament between the central and bottom shafts of the finials.
Biblical verses (Psalms 19:8-11) are engraved on the central shaft. In addition, a dedicatory inscription (Hebrew) is engraved on the bottom shaft of one finial:
"Daoud ibn Yussef / Tiari [?] …"


Height: 35.5 cm. Maximal width: 6 cm. Good-fair condition. Warping, fractures, and fissures. Old soldering repairs.
