Dedication from 1947.?Non-traditional Passover haggadah, mimeographed, with hand-colored illustrations, from the first Passover festival celebrated by the founders of Kibbutz Hatzerim. The haggadah contains several excerpts from the traditional haggadah alongside texts for reading aloud as well as poetry and prose excerpts dealing with the nation's destruction and rebirth. The haggadah mentions the fallen of "the battles for defense and the darkness upon the killing fields and at the gates of the ghettos," alongside an illustration of a ship being tossed upon the sea. An image of Nazi soldiers tormenting and killing Jews appears beside the verse "Pour out Your wrath upon the nations."?Kibbutz Hatzerim was established by Scouts Training Group 3 on the evening after Yom Kippur in October 1946 as part of Operation Negev, during which eleven settlements were established in the Negev. A handwritten inscription appears on the first page of the haggadah: "To Tikva, in memory of a shared and happy life in the springtime in Beit HaKerem. See you at 'home' - in the Negev.
