Manuscript leaves, sections of R. Chaim Vital's compositions of the kabbalistic teachings of the Arizal, handwritten by R. Yosef Edrehi, trusted scribe of the Rashash. [Jerusalem, 18th century].
Most of the present leaves are from two copyings of the book Olat Tamid.
The lot comprises:
1. Ten leaves (19 pages) from the book Olat Tamid, scribed by R. Yosef Edrehi. Leaves 3-6, 50-55 of the manuscript. 12 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dark dampstains. Folding marks, tears and wear.
2. Six leaves (12 pages) from a different copying of the book Olat Tamid, scribed by R. Yosef Edrehi. Leaves 40-41, 58, 60-61 and 63 of the manuscript. 21 cm. Fair condition. Stains. Extensive worming, affecting text.
3. One leaf (2 pages) from the book Toldot Adam (later known as Mevo She'arim), scribed by R. Yosef Edrehi. Leaf 169 of the manuscript. 20 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Tears. Worming.
R. Yosef Edrehi, kabbalist and trusted scribe of the Rashash in Jerusalem. He copied many kabbalistic compositions of the Arizal and of his teacher the Rashash. His script was particularly neat and uniform. Was active in Jerusalem in ca. 1755-1771.
