Five engravings of emblems from the book Thesaurus Philopoliticus by Daniel Meisner [Frankfurt am Main, 1624-1626].
Each of these engravings depict an allegoric scene on an urban background with a motto (in Latin or German) and short German rhymes which are actually riddles.
The cities portrayed in the engravings: Salin inn Burgundt (France), Dornich (Belgium), Valentia (France), Gendt (Holland) and Candia (Crete).
Engravings: 10X15 cm. (11X16.5 cm.). Good condition. Stains. Creases and slight blemishes. Handwritten inscriptions on the verso of one engraving.
