First edition of a small-format album of illustrations depicting the holy sites in Palestine. Created by Friedrich Otto Georgi (1819-1874), who was appointed as the official artist to the Prussian expedition to Egypt, led by Egyptologist Karl Richard Lepsius. After the expedition concluded, Georgi traveled independently to Palestine, where he recorded its landscapes in a series of drawings, later published in the present work – comprising ten engraved plates and additional illustrations within the text, depicting Jerusalem and the Dome of the Rock, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Nazareth, Bethlehem, and other sites. Illustrated title page (with motifs from the New Testament), printed in reddish-brown ink.
