Parchment manuscript, prayers for Gabbai and cantor recited during Torah reading service, produced by S. H. Lorie (Shaul Tzvi Luria) – who donated it to the Brighton Hebrew Congregation. Brighton, England, 1904-1905.
Neat manuscript, dedicated with calligraphy. At the beginning of the manuscript are two artistically-decorated title pages, one in English and one in Hebrew, stating that it was dedicated by S. H. Lorie in memory of his father, mother and wife, and dated 1905. Another dedication at edge of last page.
The manuscript includes Yizkor, Mi SheBerach, HaGomel, Yehi Ratzon for Mondays and Thursdays, Reshut for Chatan Torah and Chatan Bereshit, blessings on haftarah, Yekum Purkan, prayer for the state in Hebrew and English (to King Edward VII, his wife Queen Alexandra, and the royal family), and more.
Hebrew title and dedication on last leaf dated 5604 (1904), later corrected to 5605. English title page dated 5666 and 1905.
At beginning of booklet are bound several paper leaves. One of them contains two more Mi SheBerach texts. Edge of page signed by "Moshe Heilprin, scribe of Beit Din and proofreader". Manuscript placed in leather binding, with decorated gilt edges.
