Decorated parchment ketubah for Shabtai Eliezer Efrati and Chanah daughter of Gershon Di Cave. Rome, Italy, 30th Tishrei 5642 [October 23, 1881].
Ink and paint on parchment.
Ketubah on large parchment sheet, with lower edges cut into a pointed reverse arch. Colorful vegetal patterns, with four corner decorations resembling stars and an illustration resembling a face near bottom margins. Signatures of witnesses on edge.
54.5X77 cm. Fair-good condition. Fading of ink and paint. Slit to margins of pointed protrusion at bottom. Four filing holes to right margins and some tears and stains, professionally restored.
