Set of circumcision utensils, in an elaborate filigree box. [England? Ca. 1930]. Circumcision utensils, in an elaborate case-like box. All of the box (including the lower part and legs) is made in delicate and fine filigree craftsmanship. In the center of the cover appears an additional silver decoration, shaped as a flower. Two handles on both sides. The box closes with a clasp and a lock (with original key; lock is out of order). Found within the box, which is divided into two compartments separated by a fine fabric cushion, are a small silver box, a circumcision knife (pocketknife, very sharp) and a guard. The scissors and the probe are missing. Contained within an additional box, matching, made of leather covered cardboard, covered with purple velvet on the inside (slightly damaged). Enclosed is a postcard sent to the collector David Solomon Sassoon with the box, in 1931. Height: 8.5 cm, length: 9 cm, width: 14.5 cm. Overall good condition. Damages to locking mechanism and some bends to decorations of clasp. One chain connecting the lid to the box is detached.
