Manuscript, Mohel journal, with order of circumcision – prayers and piyyutim for circumcision and Birkat HaMazon. [Italy, early 19th century]; bound with: Sod Hashem, halachot, customs and prayers for circumcision, with Sharvit HaZahav commentary, by R. David of Lida. Mantua: Refael Chaim of Italy, [1743].

Prayers and piyyutim section in Italian square script, with one page in Italian cursive script. Instructions and additions in a later hand, in Hebrew and Italian.

The manuscript and printed book are bound together in an elegant leather binding. Before the manuscript are bound many blank leaves for inscriptions of circumcisions by mohel. On first pages, mohel journal – where the owner documented circumcisions he performed from 1869-1880 in Moncalvo and Mondovì.

Mitzvat Nashim Melumadah is an Italian translation of Seder Mitzvat HaNashim by R. Binyamin Aharon Salnik, author of Masat Binyamin [disciple of the Maharshal and Rama and leading 16th century posek], a work dealing with the mitzvot relating to women [mainly the three mitzvot of challah, niddah and candle-lighting]. The book was translated and adapted by R. Yaakov son of R. Elchanan Heilprin, an Ashkenazic Torah scholar of Italy [authored Nachalat Yaakov, which garnered an approbation by the Shlah].

[6] leaves, 56 pages. 22.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dampstains and traces of former dampness. Light wear. Marginal tears to title page and several other leaves, affecting text of one leaf. Old cardboard binding.

Printed booklet, Hallel Gadol, to be recited publicly the night of Rosh Chodesh Shevat for miracles that took place for the community relating to the ghetto courtyard. [Verona: printer not indicated, 1759].

Printed booklet. Prayer for the anniversary of the arrival of the Verona community in the ghetto, on Rosh Chodesh Shevat 1600, which was celebrated annually.
