Following the title page is a facsimile of a letter of approbation given by Rebbe Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch, to the publisher rabbi Osias Wagschal (9th Shevat 1941; printed on a full page): "Regarding the printing of the holy book Noam Elimelech, it is certainly a very noble thing and surely the number of buyers will increase, and it will bring them protection and success… It is appropriate to make an elegant introduction" (Hebrew; printed in Igrot HaKodesh by the Rayatz, V, Letter 1367) [There are other copies of the book, in which this approbation was printed in a reduced size, on the upper-right side of the page].
Noam Elimelech is one of the first Chassidic books, and is considered until this day to be one of the fundamental works of Chassidut. The book contains essential parts of the doctrine of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk on Chassidut, purity of thought and attachment to G-d. A tradition attributed to the Baal HaTanya, holds the Tanya to be a "book of the Beinoni'im", and the Noam Elimelech a "book of Tzadikim" (see: Sefer Or Yekarot, I, Jerusalem 1998, p. 250).
Since its publishing, the book was deemed sacred to all, and it was reprinted in numerous editions (until 1982, it had been printed in over 50 editions, and since then in dozens more). Many keep the book as a segulah, and some special miniature format editions were published to serve as amulets for protection and success. Many put it at the head of an ill person as a segulah and protection, for a speedy recovery and to be saved from any misfortune. The book is known also to be a segulah for women experiencing difficult labor.

‘First-fruit’ of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's work.
A yearbook for the year 5703, from Chag HaGeulah Yud-Tes (19th) Kislev 1943, to 18 Kislev of the following year, 1944. The yearbook sets the daily portion of study in Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya, and contains customs, stories, and Chassidic saying and aphorisms, from Torat HaChasidut and from the talks and letters of the Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch. The calendar opens with a sort of introduction by the publisher, followed by a biographical overview of the seven Chabad Rebbes, named "Shalshelet HaYachas".
Rebbe Rayatz worte about this yearbook: "It is a book in small format—just as a Chossid must be in his self-estimation— yet it is overflowing with pearls and precious stones of the best and greatest quality… G-d blessed my son-in-law, R. Menachem Mendel… and gave him great powers, which allowed for the building and the founding of a resplendent Chassidic mansion, which contains 383 rooms, in a way which ‘yom yom yabia omer, ’ each day ‘says something'" (letter 2024; Yiddish).

Special edition of the Tanya (edition 3323) printed in large format, with thin binding, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Rebbe's appointment. The book was distributed by the rebbe with a dollar bill (dollar bill not included here).
The distribution ceremony of the present Tanya on Monday 10th Shevat 1990 is described in detail in Kovetz LeChizuk HaHitkashrut – 29 (pp. 13-15).

The Lubavitcher Rebbe instructed to print the booklet in honor of the yahrzeit of his father-in-law, the Rebbe Rayatz on Yud Shevat. It includes three Chassidic Maamarim delivered by the Rayatz in 1921, which were recorded in writing. The Kuntres opens with a printed portrait of the Rebbe Rayatz. On the eve of Yud Shevat 1992, the Rebbe distributed this booklet with two one-dollar bills for charity.

The Maamar "Baruch She'asa Nissim” was delivered by the Rebbe Rashab on 19th Kislev 1903, during a gathering (hitvaadut) which took place at the Tomchei Temimim yeshiva in Lubavitch, and was recorded in writing by his son Rebbe Rayatz, with the addition of the latter's explanations. The essay was first printed in this booklet, directly from the manuscript of the Rayatz, in honor of Yud Shevat – the yahrzeit of Rebbe Rayatz and the day the mantle of leadership was placed on the shoulders of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. The booklets were distributed by the Rebbe with two one-dollar bills for charity.

Five-dollar bill received from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher Rebbe, on the yahrzeit of his wife Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneersohn, Chof Beis Shevat 1992.
Pen inscription in the margins: "From the rebbe". Letter of authenticity from R. Shaul Shimon Deutsch enclosed: "This Five-dollar bill was received by a member of my family from the Rebbe with Kovetz Chof Beis Shevat".
On the eve of 22nd Shevat 1992, in honor of the fourth yahrzeit of his wife Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, the rebbe distributed a special booklet named Kovetz Chof Beis Shevat, which contained discourses and letters on the virtue of Jewish women and girls. Each booklet was presented together with a piece of Lekach and a five-dollar bill (the Hebrew word for five – חמ"ש is an acronym for the Rebbetzin's name – Chaya Mushka Schneersohn). The distribution of the booklets continued for five hours straight. The present bill was received from the rebbe on this occasion (booklet not included).

מכתב "כללי-פרטי" (מכתב שנשלח למספר אנשים בנוסח זהה), אל ר' חיים שלום הלוי סגל. בפתח המכתב מברך הרבי: "השי"ת ימלא משאלות לבבו לטובה", ומוסיף בעידוד להוספה בעניני התורה והמצוות, שהם "הצינור והכלי לקבלת ברכות ה'".
בהמשך מתייחס הרבי ליום ההילולא של חמיו האדמו"ר הריי"ץ: "ובענין שהזמן גרמא, בקשר ליו"ד שבט, יום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר [הריי"ץ], שעל הציון שלו יזכירוהו בתפלה, בודאי שעל כל אחד ואחד מאתנו להתבונן איך שבעל ההילולא הקדיש ימי חייו להחזקת והפצת התורה והיהדות, בלי פשרות, ובמסירת נפש ממש. ומעשה עיקר... בעל ההילולא עומד לימינם של כל ההולכים באורחותיו וממשיכים בפעולותיו, וברכתו מלווה אותם להצליח בזה גם בעניניהם הפרטיים".
הרבי מסיים את מכתבו "בברכה בקשר ליום ההולדת - לשנת הצלחה בגו"ר [בגשמיות וברוחניות] ובברכה לבשורות טובות בכל האמור".

המחנך ר' אבא לוין (סמרגון תרע"א – כפר חב"ד תשנ"א), יצא מרוסיה ב"יציאת רוסיה" תש"ז, שהה זמן מה במחנה העקורים שטייר (Steyr) שבאוסטריה, ומשם הגיע לפריז בה עסק בתחום החינוך. בשנת תש"ט בערך עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בכפר חב"ד. התמסר לענייני הפצת המעיינות, מסר שיעורי תורה בבתי הכנסת, והמשיך לעסוק בתחום החינוך. בין היתר, כיהן כמפקח הכללי של התלמוד תורה בכפר חב"ד.

נשלח אל הגה"ח ר' משה אריה לייב שפירא בירושלים. במכתבו מוסר לו הרבי תשואות חן על מכתב ובו דין וחשבון מפורט מהנהגת הישיבה, מבקשו לכתוב בעתיד בפירוט יותר, וכותב שהשיב על שאלותיו במכתב רשמי "להנהלת הישיבה בכללותה". בסוף המכתב מברכו הרבי: "בברכת הצלחה בעבודתו בקדש מתוך בריאות הנכונה".
הגה"ח ר' משה אריה ליב שפירא (תרמ"ט-תשל"ב), ראש ישיבת "תורת אמת" ורב ומו"צ בשכונת בית ישראל בירושלים. בעת ביקורו של הריי"ץ בירושלים בשנת תרפ"ט, נמנה הרב שפירא בין מלוויו של האדמו"ר. מחבר הספרים "נימוקי מלבי"ם" ו"טבעות זהב" על קצות החושן.

הרה"ג הרה"ח ר' חיים שלום הלוי סגל (תרע"ח-תשמ"ג), "בעל הבית על ארץ ישראל", דור שישי לבעל התניא. מייסד ומשפיע בית הכנסת חב"ד "בית יהודה" בשכונת מזכרת משה בירושלים ור"מ בישיבת הבחורים שעל יד ישיבת עץ-חיים. עסק עשרות שנים בפירוש רש"י על התורה והוציא לאור את חיבוריו "תוספת רש"י" על התנ"ך, "מונחי רש"י" ו"יתרון האור". בנו ר' בנימין זאב (ר' ועלוועל) סגל, ר"מ בישיבת "תורת אמת" בירושלים וראש כולל בבית כנסת "בעל התניא" במאה שערים.
