Lev Aharon, commentary on Neviim Rishonim, Yehoshua-Shoftim, Parts I-II, with the verses (vocalized), by R. Aharon ibn Chaim. Venice: Giovanni di Gara, 1608. First edition.
Proofread by the author, a preacher in Morocco.
Distinguished copy, belonging to Rebbe Yehoshua of Ostrova, author of Toldot Adam. On title page, stamps of Rebbe "Yehoshua son of R. Sh. L. – of Sosnowitz and now in Ostrova" – Rebbe Yehoshua of Ostrova (d. 1873) was a Tzaddik of Poland, son of R. Shlomo Leib of Łęczna and a disciple of the Sar Shalom of Belz. Succeeded his father in leading a large community of thousands. Through his daughter, he was the progenitor of the Biala dynasty.
Ownership inscription on title page (partially deleted) of "[---] Bacchi". Signed initials in Italian script.
Inscription in Ashkenazic script at top of title page: "Proofread and complete…".
On p. 2b, signed inscription in Italian script of books received as payment.

Signature of censor Giovanni Domenico Carretto at end of last index pages of Parts I-II (dated 1611?).

122, [2]; 129, [3] leaves. 28 cm. Varying condition of leaves, fair-good to fair-poor. Stains, including dampstains. Heavy traces of former dampness with mold stains to approx. 30 last leaves. Worming (significant worming in some places), affecting text. Tears, including open tears to several leaves, slightly affecting text, partially repaired with tape. New binding, with worming and defects.
