Russian Placards: 1917-1922 – 1st Part – Petersburg Office of the Russian Telegraph Agency ROSTA. St. Petersburg: Petersburg Branch of the News of the All-Russia Central Executive Committee ("Isvestia VCIK"), 1923. English and French.
The first series of Lebedev's designs for Futurist style Soviet propaganda posters, and the only series published. The series was originally created for the windows of the telegraph agency in St. Petersburg. Each poster is accompanied by a guard tissue captioned in English and French.
[4] leaves, XXIII lithographic plates. 21.5 cm. Good condition. Minor stains. Wear, blemishes, minor tears and stamp to cover. Front cover detached.

Vladimir Lebedev (Влади́мир Васи́льевич Ле́бедев; 1891-1967) was one of the prominent artists of the Russian avant-garde movement. Lebedev worked in painting, illustration, poster design, and more, drawing inspiration from various artistic movements and styles, including Russian folk art, Cubism, and Futurism. Lebedev is particularly remembered for his pioneering work in children's book illustration, and his unique style transformed the art of children's book illustration into an important and central form of artistic expression in the Soviet Union.
