First edition, with approbations from leading rabbis of the generation Rabbi David Oppenheim, Rabbi Samson Wertheimer of Vienna and others. Kabbalistic illustrations. At the end of the essay "Adam D'Atzilut", an illustrated plate of the "Holy Elder" tree with "13 Tikunei Dikna... D'Mehemnuta" is printed.

R. Shaul Brach (1865-1940) was a disciple of the Chatam Sofer and a leading rabbi in his times. He was appointed Rabbi of Magendorf (Veľký Meder) in 1892, and served as Rabbi of Carei between 1910-1923, until his appointment as Rabbi of Košice. Throughout his years in the rabbinate he headed a large yeshiva, and his disciples included many Hungarian rabbis.

Chemdat Yamim and the identity of its author are the focus of an intense controversy. R. Yaakov Emden was the first to fiercely oppose the book, claiming that it was written by Nathan of Gaza, the "prophet" of Shabtai Tzvi, and that it was full of Sabbatean ideas, leading many communities to ban the book. Others, however, defend the book, including Jerusalem Kabbalist R. Menachem Menchin Halprin in his Kevod Chachamim. The identity of the author, and whether he was a genuine kabbalist or Sabbatean, has yet to be conclusively determined.
