A lithographed Shana Tova leaf, with golden decorations. At the beginning are blessings for a good year, in Hebrew and in German, with illustration of the Temple Mount. [Jerusalem, end of 19th century]. On the leaf is the regulation in the handwriting of the emissary Rabbi Masoud Adahan, a Tiberias sage and emissary of Eretz Israel to the western countries in the beginning of the 20th century. Rabbi Masoud stayed in Tillit, Morocco at the time and wrote this regulation which prohibits wearing metal objects around the neck, which are liable to be used as a weapon during an argument and may injure or even kill. Further in the letter is the regulation made "in the presence of the whole community", prohibiting carrying metal objects inside the city, "besides grooms on their wedding days". It is also stated that anyone who breaches this regulation will be banned and punished with fines and with the detailed penalties. The regulation was passed “with the king's permission, and with the permission of Rabbi Meir Ba'al HaNess…". The regulation writ is signed by Rabbi Masoud Adahan and by other sages of the city: "Meir Cohen", "Meir Adahan", "Reuven Timastit", "Shaul Fachima", "Se'adya son of Masud son of David and Yosef". 22X30 cm. Fair condition, tears to folding marks and margins (with damage to text). Stains and wear. Mounted on thick paper for restoration.
