Palestine: Jerusalem – Vue prise de la Montagne des Oliviers / Jerusalem – Vista tomada del Monte de las Olivas. Paris and New York: L. Turgis, after 1861.
High-quality hand-colored lithograph by the French painter Isidore Laurent Deroy (1797-1886), depicting a panoramic view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.
Below the image appear the names of the principal sites – the Valley of Jehoshaphat, the Dome of the Rock, Damascus Gate and others – together with the imprint, but without the year of publication (the lithograph was first published in February 1861).
47.5X31.5 cm. Good condition. Stains and minor creases. Repaired tear to upper edge, not affecting image. Traces of tape to verso.

Large collection comprising some 80 color lithographs, depicting views and scenes of the Holy Land and the Near East, after 19th-century painters of the Holy Land.
The collection includes lithographs after works by leading European artists who documented the Holy Land during the 19th century, among them: William Henry Bartlett, Charles William Meredith van de Velde, Luigi Mayer, Jean Jacottet, Francis Spilsbury, and others.
Subjects include: various views of Jerusalem, the Kidron Valley, Mount Zion, tombs in the Valley of Jehoshaphat, street scenes in old Jerusalem, Solomon’s Pools, and more.
Approx. 80 prints, some in several copies. Size varies: approx. 19X13.5 cm to 45X30 cm. Overall good condition.
