Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapiro, Av Beit Din of Munkacs (1872-1937), the Minchat Elazar, was a leading Torah scholar, halachic and Chassidic authority. Son of Rebbe Tzvi Hirsch Shapiro, Av Beit Din of Munkacs, author of Shem Shlomo, he was born to the dynasty of Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov, the Bnei Yissachar. He fought for the holiness of Judaism, and his halachic and kabbalistic teachings are studied all over the world. Author of Minchat Elazar, Shaar Yissachar, Nimukei Orach Chaim, Divrei Torah in nine parts, and more.

1. Neta Shaashuim, novellae and pilpul on Talmud and poskim, with responsa. Munkacs: Aharon Ber Meisels, 1925. With approbation of his teacher, the Minchat Elazar of Munkacs.
The present copy was dedicated to the head of the Central Orthodox Bureau in Budapest, R. Shmuel Zanvil Kahana-Frankel – fine leather binding, with dedication printed in gilded letters:
"Loving gift to the head of the Central Orthodox Bureau in Pest, R. Shmuel Zanvil Kahana Frankel – by the author" [the book was apparently dedicated in 1940 – on the reverse side of the binding is an illustration of an eagle headed by a caption indicating that year].

Sharp polemical work, written in response to Shulchan Melachim by the dayan R. Moshe Tzvi Landau of Kleinwardein (Kisvárda), who had argued with the halachic decisions of the author's teacher, the Minchat Elazar of Munkacs.

The author, R. Neta Shlomo Schlissel (1903-1944, perished in the Holocaust), dayan and posek and dean of Darchei Teshuvah yeshiva in Munkacs. Born to his father R. David Schlissel, dayan and posek in Zborov, and later Rosh Av Beit Din in Munkacs; author of Imrei David. Studied in Munkacs in the yeshiva of Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapiro, the Minchat Elazar, and was known from a young age as sharp-witted and erudite. His first book, Neta Shaashuim, was printed at the young age of 21, with the approbation of his teacher, the Minchat Elazar. After his marriage, he lived for many years with his father-in-law in Krenitz (Krynica-Zdrój), and in 1933 he was appointed dayan in the court of the Minchat Elazar, Rebbe of Munkacs. He was a confidant and devoted follower of the Rebbe of Munkacs. He served as rabbi and lecturer in the Beit Midrash Yeshuot Yisrael in Munkacs. After his father's passing in 1940, he was appointed Rosh Av Beit Din in his place.

Written on stationery of Yeshivat Kehillat Yaakov [Pupa]. Sent to the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States, requesting a letter of recommendation for R. Yosef Binyamin Friedman, emissary for the Pupa yeshiva, who was sent "to raise funds from our fellow Jews for our yeshiva, in which poor people study who will disseminate Torah with God's help…

Rebbe Yosef Grünwald of Pupa (1903-1984), last rabbi of Pápa, Hungary, and leading rabbi in the United States. Son and successor of R. Yaakov Yechizkiyah Grünwald, Av Beit Din of Pápa, the Vayaged Yaakov (son of R. Moshe Grünwald, the Arugat HaBosem). In 1925 he married the daughter of his great-uncle R. Yaakov Yechizkiyah Grünwald (brother of the Arugat HaBosem). He served as posek and yeshiva dean in Satmar, and in 1941 after the passing of his father the Vayaged Yaakov, he moved to Pápa and served as town rabbi. During the Holocaust he lost his first wife and their ten children, who were murdered by the Nazis. After the war he moved to Belgium and later reached the United States, where he established the Kehillat Yaakov Pupa community, and served as rabbi and yeshiva dean. He was a leading Orthodox rabbi in the United States; he served as president of the Central Rabbinical Congress associated with the Satmar Chassidut, and he was known as the "Pupa Rav". His books include Responsa Vayaan Yosef, the Vayechi Yosef series, Darchei Yosef, and more.

Scribal writing, on official stationery, with two lines added in the Rebbe's handwriting and signature.
Letter of thanks to a donor who contributed money for marriage expenses. The Rebbe blesses him "…for you to be blessed from the store of blessings with bountiful good, and a life of much ease and success in all your endeavors…". At the end of the letter the Rebbe adds in his own handwriting:
"And may God send His holy assistance in full health and much happiness and salvation and all good forever – Shlomo Halberstam".

In 1931, his father moved from Bobov to Trzebinia, and appointed him as rabbi in his place in Bobov. Rebbe Shlomo assisted his father in directing the dozens of branches of the large network of yeshivas "Etz Chaim – Bobov" in Galicia. After the Holocaust, he reached the United States where he re-established the Bobov Chassidut. He led his followers for over fifty years, founding communities, yeshivas and Torah institutions in the United States and worldwide (Israel, Belgium and England). Bobov Chassidut is one of the largest Chassidic communities in the world today, numbering tens of thousands of families. His books include Kerem Shlomo, Noam Shlomo, Divrei Shlomo and Chochmat Shlomo.

Letter of thanks to a donor who contributed money for marriage expenses. The Rebbe blesses him: "you thereby awakened the old love, and may He remember the covenant of the fathers for the children; so may you be blessed with the blessings of heaven above with bountiful success and be full of joy…". At the end of the letter the Rebbe adds in his handwriting a blessing for the New Year:
"And may you be blessed with a Ketivah VaChatimah Tovah", and he signs –
"Shlomo Halberstam".
