A composition by the French theologist Nicolas Fontaine (1625-1709), reviewing the history of the Old and New Testament. Accompanied by 239 engravings depicting biblical scenes and by five maps (including a map of Jerusalem and a map presenting the route of the journey of the Israelites in the desert, and more).
[5] leaves, 212 pp, [6] leaves, 84, [1], 62-187 pp) 239 engravings (on 132 plates). The engraving preceding the first title page is missing. Good-fair overall condition. Stains. Tears, some of them affecting the engravings, most of them restored with paper. The first gathering is loose. Worn, rubbed leather binding with tears.
