Two albums with photographs of the oil refineries in Haifa. 1943 and 1959.
1. Album with 16 photographs showing the construction stages of oil tanks in Haifa Port. Photographed by the sisters Charlotte and Gerda Meyer. The photographs are mounted on the album leaves and titled on them (by hand, in English). The album opens with a dedication: "To M. Ben Shachar, in appreciation for assistance and brave cooperation, from Solel Boneh. Haifa, 1.6.42." (Signed by hand and ink-stamped "Solel Boneh Ltd.").
The works of constructing the refineries in Haifa started in 1938 and were completed in 1944. Construction was carried out by the American company "Kellogg" assisted by "Solel Boneh".
16 photographs, 17X12.5 cm. to 8X5.5 cm. Good overall condition. Some of the photographs are partly detached from the album leaves. Album: 33X23 cm. Good condition. Slight damages. Creases, tears and tears to tissue-guards.
2. Album with 24 photographs showing the visit of Trade and Industry Minister, Pinchas Sapir, in the Haifa refineries, 1959. The photographs are mounted on the album leaves. Each photograph is titled with a short title printed on a piece of paper and pasted by the photograph.
In 1959 the acquisition of the refineries in Haifa from British Petroleum Company was completed and "Oil Refineries Ltd." company was founded.
24 photographs, average size: 17X12 cm. Good condition. Album: 33.5X24 cm. Good condition. Creases, stains and slight damages to tissue-guards. Slight stains and damages to binding.
