A letter sent from besieged Jerusalem, from a woman by the name of Hemda to her sister Dvora. Jerusalem, May 16, 1948. Hebrew.
The writer mentions in this letter the detachment from the rest of the country, shortage of food, electricity and water, but also expresses her joy for the establishment of the state ("I write this letter in honor of our state and to express my joy"), tells about her hope for a better future, soon, and asks her sister to answer her by mail, in order for her to enjoy the new postal stamps.
