Purple Ceremonial Dress – Ottoman Empire
A splendid dress. Ottoman Empire, [turn of the 19th-20th century]. Purple velvet, golden thread embroidery on cardboard, linen lining. The dress is embroidered in a repeated pattern of twigs and flowers. Around the neckline – fringe-like embroidery. Length: 135 cm, max. width: 100 cm. Good-fair condition. Amendments at stitches where sleeves are sewn to the dress and at some other places. Stains and wear to lining. Some damages to embroidery.
