Manuscript, ledger of the Eschau community (Bavaria, Germany), from 1837-1877. Germany. Glued on the binding is a piece of paper [partly torn] with the inscription: Synagogen Bu[ch]... Geburtsregis… [Book of Synagogue…records of births]. The ledger includes 15 pages of records of births [German and a smattering of Hebrew] in the community, beginning in 1837. On the last leaf (the first leaf on the right) is an illustrated title page with the inscription: “Ledger for the holy society Keter Torah and for the education of boys of the Eschau community 1877”. Apparently, the leaves following the title page were torn out. [16] written leaves. 33 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and wear. Penciled scribbles. Damaged binding.
