St. Vincent Ferrer (1350-1419) was a Missionary Franciscan priest of Valencia (Spain); known for travelling through Jewish congregations in Spain trying to convert as many Jews as possible to Christianity. Ferrer
visited synagogues followed by crowds of believers, a cross in one hand and a Torah book in the other and declared the synagogue as a church, while trying to convince Jews to convert. Some assume that he succeeded in converting about 25,000 Jews.
The item presented here announces a prayer to be held in honor of Ferrer in San Domenico church in Imola, Province of Bologna. In the prayer are mentioned the missionary's "wonderous deeds" including the convertion of 8,000 Moslems to Christianity and more than 25,000 Jews. 47X30 cm. Good condition. Folding-marks and creases. Several stains and minor unpicking damages to borders.
