This edition includes in all volumes Meir Nativ by R. Shabtai HaKohen (a relative of the Shach), omitted from later editions of the Talmud printed in Vilna, Warsaw and Lviv. The Chazon Ish favored and praised the Zhitomir edition of the Talmud, both because of the publishers' reverence for the holiness of the Talmud and mainly for its inclusion of Meir Nativ, absent from other editions.

One black title page for tractates later in volume (except Tractate Avodah Zarah, with two title pages and red ink). Tractate Megillah lacking leaves 5-6 (leaves 3-4 bound again in their place). After title pages of Menachot appear first two leaves of Horayot. Varying condition of volumes, fair to good-fair. Some leaves in several places in fair-poor condition. Stains, including dampstains. Much wear and creases to some volumes. Tears and open tears, including open tears to title pages, affecting text and title frames. Detached leaves and gatherings in several places (including some title pages). Mostly original leather bindings (two volumes in different, later bindings). Many bindings detached, with defects, much wear and tears (spines lacking and torn in some volumes).
