Collection of Books – Printed in Livorno – 1742-1867

Collection of nine books printed in Livorno in the 1700s-1800s:

• Responsa of the Rashbash (R. Shlomo son of the Rashbatz). Livorno, 1742. First edition. Inscriptions in Oriental script on title page and second leaf: "From the Beit Midrash of the philanthropist R. Aharon Yehudah" [of Baghdad]. Additional inscription on second leaf: "Yitzchak Daniel Benveniste".

• Responsa Beit Yehudah, by R. Yehudah Ayash, with customs of the community of Algiers. Livorno, [1746]. First edition. Signature on title page: "Yaakov Koppel Bamberger HaLevi" – R. Yaakov Koppel HaLevi Bamberger (1784-1864), Rabbi of Worms. Stamp on title page: "Bentzion son of R. Yaakov Ettlinger" (R. Bentzion Ettlinger, son of the Aruch LaNer and editor of some of his works, son-in-law of the philanthropist R. Shemaryahu Zuckerman of Mogilev).

• Yachin UBoaz, responsa by R. Tzemach and R. Shimon Duran, sons of R. Shlomo (the Rashbash), with Zera Rav, sermons by R. Masud ibn Ganon. Livorno, [1782]. Stamps of philanthropist R. Shemaryahu Zuckerman of Mogilev [father-in-law and teacher of R. David Friedman Rabbi of Karlin].

• Magen Avot by the Rashbatz. Livorno, [1785]. Signature on title page, slightly deleted: "Natan Coron—". Apparently the signature of the kabbalist R. Nachman Natan Coronel (1810-1890), a leading Jerusalem Torah scholar and public activist, publisher and emissary. Born in Amsterdam to a Sephardic father and an Ashkenazic mother, he was a longtime friend of R. Yehosef Schwartz and studied kabbalah with him. Published books from early manuscripts. Father-in-law of R. Hirsch Michel Shapiro.

• Keshet UMagen, by the Rashbash. [Livorno, 1785?]. Printing details not included due to concerns of censorship. Deleted signature on title page.

• Tikunei Zohar. Livorno, 1796. Early leather binding (with defects), with gilt decorations.
• Mivchar HaMaamarim, by R. Natan son of Shmuel the physician, with Igeret HaShabbat by R. Avraham ibn Ezra. Livorno, [1840].

• Zohar Chadash. Livorno, [1866].

• Letters of the Chida. Livorno, [1867].

9 books. Varying size and condition. Bookplates. Most in old bindings. The books have not been thoroughly examined, and are being sold as is.
