Official souvenir photographs, mounted onto thick paper plates and titled in print (German), from the 1891 Mediterranean voyage of the luxury ocean liner "Augusta Victoria, " regarded as the world’s first real cruise ship journey.
The present photographs present scenes of Jerusalem, where cruise passengers arrived after docking at the Port of Jaffa: The Temple Mount as seen from the Mount of Olives; the Temple Mount plaza; Church of Mary Magdalene; overlook of Jerusalem from the north and south; view of the Temple Mount as seen from Mount Zion.
Six photographs, approx. 14.5X21 cm (plates: 31.5X23.5 cm). Good condition. Minor stains and blemishes to plates (photos themselves clean).
