Commemorative volume, distributed to participants in the inauguration ceremony of the Dormition Abbey (Mariae Heimgang) on Mount Zion, held on April 10, 1910.
The volume includes a long collotype print, folded in eight sections, featuring a panoramic view of Jerusalem taken from the Dormition tower, with a detailed legend identifying key landmarks throughout the city.
Bound in an attractive gilt-stamped cover (in German and Latin), featuring a collotype print of the church mounted on the front board. A printed presentation leaf commemorating the church's dedication is affixed to the front pastedown.
Accompanied by a single leaf of German text, describing the background to the abbey’s construction, with quotations from the Scripture and from speeches by Emperor Wilhelm II, whose visit to the Holy Land and close ties with the Ottoman Sultan paved the way for the building’s construction.
