Collection of Photographs of Jerusalem and Vicinity – Luigi Fiorillo – Mid-Late 19th Century

Thirty photographs of Jerusalem and vicinity by the Italian photographer Luigi Fiorillo. [ca. 1870s-1880s].
These photographs, numbered and titled in the plate (in French), with the photographer’s name in the margin, including: Interior of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque; Hezekiah’s Pool; Tombs of the Kings; gates of Jerusalem’s Old City (Jaffa, Damascus, and Lions’ [St Stephen’s] Gates); residents and horse-drawn carriages on Jaffa Street; View of Mount of Olives from the Old City; Church of St. Anne; and more.
Most of the photos are mounted onto thick paper plates (at times onto both sides a plate). Some photos in duplicate copies.

30 photographs, approx. 20X25cm (size of photos somewhat variable). Good condition. Tears and blemishes to edges of several photos (reinforced with adhesive tape). Stickers in margins of two of the photos. Blemishes and misshaping to some plates.
